India vs Australia 1st Test Live Updates: Mohammed Siraj has been the pick of the Indian bowlers on day 4. The fiery pacer has taken two crucial wickets of Usman Khwaja and Steve Smith to keep Australia on the back foot. Meanwhile, Travis Head has once again emerged as the thaw in India's thaw, hitting a quickfire half-century to deny Team India a well-deserved half-century.

After the early wicket of Usman Khwaja, Steve Smith and Travis Head put on a 50+ run partnership to keep their team in the game. Smith's altered trigger movement helped him survive for a while, but the veteran batsman eventually edged a delivery from Mohammed Siraj to get back to the crease. Mitchell Marsh is next to bat.

Jasprit Bumrah's India are just five wickets away from a historic win at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Chasing a total of 534 runs in the fourth innings, Jasprit Bumrah once again dismissed the Australian batsmen to take the crucial wickets of Nathan McSweeney and Marcus Labuchagne before the close of play on day three. Mohammed Siraj also took the crucial wicket of Pat Cummins, forcing the Aussies to bring their full-strength batsmen to the crease.

After being bowled out for 150 in the first innings, Team India managed to take a 46-run lead by dismissing the Kangaroos for 104. Meanwhile, KL Rahul (77) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (161) put on a 201-run partnership for the first wicket, the highest by visiting openers in Australia since 1991. Later, Virat Kohli also returned to form with his 30th Test century off just 143 balls.

It is now a rare feat for a team to come to Australia and win their first Test match. India have only done it once, during the 2018-19 Border Gavaskar Trophy, which they won.
