Mandya: Congress emerged victorious in all three constituencies in the byelections. However, this triumph is clouded by criticisms of its governance, with allegations of corruption, including the controversial Muda scam, opposition leader R Ashoka stated on Sunday.
He accused the ruling party of focusing on populist measures, while neglecting development, and pushing the state into mounting public debt.

Ashoka claimed that Congress' victory in the byelections was achieved through monetary influence, stating, "This is a victory achieved through contractors' money, and not by hard work." He also accused the Congress of borrowing a candidate from the BJP, due to a lack of suitable internal options.
Several Congress and JD(S) workers from Tagahalli and nearby villages in Srirangapatna taluk joined the BJP in the presence of Ashoka and Mysuru MP Yaduveer Wadiyar. Welcoming the new entrants, Ashoka accused the Congress govt of breaking its promises, hiking taxes, and failing to deliver on guaranteed benefits.
Ashoka took aim at CM Siddaramaiah and DyCM DK Shivakumar, urging them to resolve their internal disputes.
Yaduveer said, "In a democracy, defeats happen and must be accepted. Byelections often favour the ruling party. Our enthusiasm remains undiminished." Predicting a BJP comeback, he expressed confidence that the party would form the govt in Karnataka in 2028.
