Bengaluru: The health wing of BBMP has decided to provide Yoga training to the public at its 222 Namma Clinics across the city.
Officials said the civic body has floated a tender to find Yoga instructors or institutions to provide training to the public. BBMP chief health officer (public health), Dr Syed Sirajuddin Madani, confirmed the development to TOI and said the Palike intends to hold one Yoga training session per week at each Namma Clinic.
"We'll pay Rs 250 as remuneration per session to the instructors.

We will start Yoga training soon after we find the instructors," said Madani. Officials added that the Palike aims to hold at least four sessions per month, per clinic.
ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers will inform residents at the ward level about the training session. "Yoga training will be provided to the public free of cost. The public can utilise BBMP's initiative and continue practising Yoga at home," said another officer.
Underutilised clinics
BBMP health officials have discovered that 10 Namma Clinics are severely underutilised, with daily patient visits falling below 10 per facility. In response, special commissioner (health) Suralkar Vikas Kishor has established zonal inspection teams to investigate the cause of the poor turnout.
Led by the special commissioner himself, along with the chief health officer and zonal health officials, the teams will conduct comprehensive evaluations starting Tuesday. Their assessment will examine multiple potential factors: staffing adequacy, medicine availability, clinic accessibility, and quality of patient care.
"Our inspection will identify the root causes behind the low patient numbers. Whether it's staff-related issues, medical supply shortages, location challenges, or service quality concerns, we'll implement targeted solutions based on our findings," an official explained.
