Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, praised India's election process on Saturday for its speed. Musk was responding to a post on X (formerly Twitter) highlighting how India counted 640 million votes in a single day.
“India counted 640 million votes in 1 day. California is still counting votes,” Musk wrote.
His comment compared India's quick count to the ongoing vote counting in California after its November 5 election. California, the most populous U.S. state, is known for slow vote counting.
The state relies heavily on mail-in ballots, which take longer to process than in-person votes. Over 300,000 ballots remain uncounted in California.
Former President Donald Trump won the 2024 US Presidential election, defeating incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris. This victory marks a return to the White House for Trump after his defeat in 2020.
Following his inauguration, President Trump appointed Elon Musk as the head of the newly formed "Department of Government Efficiency."
