Vadodara: A man posing as a cop was arrested by the detection of crime branch (DCB) for duping a businessman in Bhuj. Zuber Memon, a resident of Ajwa Road, was nabbed by the cops on the basis of a tip-off.
Police said that Memon used to pose as a cop or a Goods and Services Tax (GST) official and extort money from businessmen. Memon recently duped a Bhuj-based jeweller by introducing himself as a cop from the Ahmedabad crime branch.

Memon called the jeweller and accused him of buying stolen ornaments. He then demanded Rs 81,000 from the jeweller to not act against him.
Interestingly, Memon asked the jeweller to transfer the money into the account of a trader he knew. Memon told the trader that some money would be transferred to his account so that he could withdraw it and give it to him. He employed this trick to ensure that the cops didn't track him down on the basis of the bank account transactions.
Police said that in the past too, 38-year-old Memon was demanding money from traders and businessmen by posing as a cop or a GST official. He was booked by Bhuj police and J P Road police in Vadodara.
