Kolkata Knight Riders made Indian all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer their most expensive buy of the IPL 2025 mega auction as they bought him for a staggering sum of Rs 23.75 crore.
Ahead of the mega auction the defending champions of the IPL had retained Rinku Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh.
Iyer was listed at a base price of Rs 2 crore. The 29-year-old made his IPL debut in 2021 with KKR. Since then he has played 51 games and scored 1326 runs and picked 3 wickets. Iyer played a vital role during KKR's successful IPL campaign in 2024 as he scored 370 runs including four half-centuries.
