Bhubaneswar: BJD on Saturday mocked BJP for its defeat in the Jharkhand election, saying that people in eastern states still place their hopes in regional parties.
BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty said that in states like West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha, regional parties still assert their presence. He said the people of Jharkhand maintain their trust in regional parties.
"People of the state are placing more trust in regional parties to fulfil their hopes and aspirations. The enthusiasm with which Odisha BJP members participated in the Jharkhand election campaign did not yield results," he said.
Mohanty said chief minister Mohan Majhi's campaign in Jharkhand did not have any significant impact. "Despite the deteriorating law and order situation, our chief minister and governor were in Jharkhand. Despite all efforts by BJP, the people of Jharkhand reaffirmed their faith in the regional party," he said.

BJP said BJD members are ignorant about the massive victory the former registered in Maharashtra. "JMM, led by Hemant Soren, has done well, for which they got the victory. But in Odisha, it is not the same," BJP state spokesperson Manoj Mohapatra said.
Mohapatra said in Odisha, BJD replicated all the central schemes with their own names but failed to successfully implement them, for which they were thrown out by people.
"Hemant implemented the central schemes successfully, for which people instilled hope in him. BJD needs to look at the Maharashtra results, where the BJP registered a huge victory," he said.
