Jaipur: Cabinet minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, who had vowed to shave off his moustache if BJP candidate Revant Singh Danga suffered a defeat in the by-election for Khinvsar assembly seat, on Saturday expressed his heartfelt gratitude to voters for their trust and support that ensured Danga's victory.
A video of Khimsar's, in which he had made the vow about his moustache, had gone viral and prompted BJP workers to put in extra effort to ensure Danga's victory. Khimsar, known for his integrity and straightforward approach, said his vow was a gesture of respect towards the people of Khinvsar.
"I and my elders have had the privilege of serving the people of Khinvsar for years. I was simply recalling my long-standing relationship with them when I made the call. The moustache is a symbol of respect, and I wanted people to maintain that respect," said Khimsar.
"Thankfully, the voters maintained that respect. I will never forget their gesture," he added.
