Chandigarh: In a sudden development, Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla on Saturday called on Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini at the latter’s residence. The visit gained significance as Haryana assembly speaker Harvinder Kalyan was also present.
Sources said Birla spent around one hour with Saini and Kalyan before proceeding to the governor house.
Officials in the CMO maintained that it was a private visit.
However, the sources privy to the development linked Birla’s visit to the allocation of land to Haryana assembly in Chandigarh for setting up of new Vidhan Sabha premises.
