Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Friday demanded that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi direct chief minister A Revanth Reddy to cancel all agreements with the Adani Group immediately if he is sincere about his stance on the corporate giant.
"Rahul Gandhi must emulate Kenya's example where the govt cancelled all contracts with Adani after allegations of corruption surfaced. If Rahul Gandhi is genuine about his accusations of corruption against Adani, why hasn't he asked the Telangana Congress govt to cancel these agreements? How can the Congress portray Adani as corrupt in Delhi while treating him as trustworthy in Telangana?" KTR said at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan.
Accusing Rahul Gandhi of hypocrisy, he said govt entered into agreements worth Rs 12,400 crore with Adani, including investments in green energy, data centres, and cement industries.
KTR alleged that the Telangana Congress accepted a Rs 100 crore donation from the Adani Group for Telangana Skill University. He demanded that the donation be immediately returned. "Rahul Gandhi and Revanth Reddy are engaging in opportunism. They must clarify their stance to the people of Telangana," he said. "Revanth Reddy must disclose his position on Adani to the people. How can he criticise Adani on one hand and engage in large-scale collaborations with him on the other?" KTR asked.
