KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Platte County Sheriff’s Office announced that five men were arrested in a Counter Human Trafficking Operation this week after they tried to engage in paid sex acts with teenage girls.

According to the sheriff’s office, on Thursday, Nov. 21, and Friday, Nov. 22, deputies planned a Counter Human Trafficking Operation, which consisted of a “predatory buyer interdiction operation and a survivor advocacy operation.”

The investigation resulted in five men being arrested after they tried to pay 14 and 15-year-old girls for sex acts.

“This type of crime often goes unseen by the public but victimizes some of the most vulnerable individuals in our communities,” Sheriff Mark Owen said. “Law enforcement in our area is committed to protecting children from sexual predators.”

The survivor advocacy operation was hosted by Value Unconditional — a victim advocacy group that met with 12 commercial sex workers and included 11 advocacy sessions.
