Mangaluru: The Mangaluru CCB team arrested Dawood, 43, a rowdy-sheeter from Ullal police Station limits, involved in multiple serious crimes, at around 4pm on Friday. The accused is a resident of Dharmanagar, Ullal, and was apprehended near Talapady-Devipura Road, where he was allegedly conspiring to commit an offence against rival gang members.
Based on credible information, the CCB team led by PSI Narendra moved to arrest Dawood. During the operation, Dawood attacked the officers with a machete in an attempt to evade arrest, causing injuries to PSI Narendra and other personnel. Despite the attack, the team managed to subdue him and handed him over to Ullal police station for further action, said city police commissioner Anupam Agrawal.
A case was registered against Dawood at Ullal police station based on a complaint filed by Narendra, PSI, CCB.
The commissioner said that Dawood is a habitual offender involved in several heinous crimes, including murder. Dawood is known for engaging in unlawful activities in Ullal, Mangaluru South and Bajpe areas. There are eight cases against him in Ullal police station and one each in Bajpe and Mangaluru South police station.
