Patna: Governor-cum-chancellor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Saturday asked Nalanda Open University (NOU)'s acting vice-chancellor (VC) Sanjay Kumar to continue to perform the duties of the VC even after completion of his three-year tenure as the pro-VC of the university on November 24.
A letter issued from Raj Bhavan on Saturday stated that Kumar will continue to act as the vice-chancellor of NOU with effect from Monday till the appointment of a regular vice-chancellor or until further orders.

Earlier, Kumar had been asked to perform the duties of the VC in addition to his duties (of the pro-VC) following the completion of the tenure of the then vice-chancellor K C Sinha.
The acting VC has, however, been directed not to take any policy decision without the approval of the chancellor.
It may be mentioned here that the Raj Bhavan has been finalizing the process of appointment of new vice-chancellors of four universities in the state, namely, Purnia University, Munger University, Nalanda Open University and Bihar Animal Sciences University.

In the meantime, the chancellor has asked the students' welfare dean of L N Mithila University, Vijay Kumar Yadav, to officiate as the registrar of the university in addition to his duties in place of Ajay Kumar Pandit who has proceeded on medical leave, according to a notification issued from Raj Bhavan on Saturday.
