Kanpur: An infant, wrapped in shawl, was abandoned by an unidentified individual on the pavement in Lokman Mohal within the jurisdiction of Harbanshmohal police station during the early hours of Friday. Local residents were roused by the infant's persistent crying and emerged from their homes. Subsequently, they notified the local police.
Harbanshmohal police took the baby girl to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital. Collector Ganj ACP Mohsin Khan said, "The baby seems to be approximately two to three months old. Investigation is on to ascertain who abandoned the child. The infant was admitted to LLR Hospital as a precautionary measure." tnn
