Bathinda: With 192 cases reported on Thursday, the total count of stubble burning cases in the ongoing season has reached 10,296 so far.
Of the total 23 districts, 19 reported farm fire cases on Thursday, with the maximum, 42, detected in Fazilka district, followed by 38 in Ferozepur.

As against 192 burning events in the ongoing season on Nov 21, the stubble burning cases on the corresponding day in 2022 and 2023 were 243 and 513, respectively.
Meanwhile, against 10,296 cases detected till Nov 21 in the ongoing season, as many as 49,526 and 35,606 cases were detected during the corresponding period in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
₹ 1.84 crore fine imposed
Acting against violators, the authorities have imposed an environmental compensation of Rs 1.84 crore in 4,915 cases till Nov 19.
Of the total amount, Rs 1.13 crore has been recovered.
Besides this, 4,877 red entries have been marked in the land records of farmers, and 5,038 FIRs have been registered under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Prosecution has been filed in seven cases under Section 39 of the Air Act, 1981. Action has also been taken in 41 cases under sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and environmental compensation has been imposed in 19 cases for no super straw management system (SMS) on combine harvesters.
Meanwhile, as per the Consortium for Research on Agroecosystem Monitoring and Modeling from Space (Creams), 726 stubble burning cases were reported on Thursday in five states, with the maximum, 274, detected in MP, followed by 192 in Punjab, 165 in Uttar Pradesh, 85 in Rajasthan, and 10 in Haryana.
The total count of cases in six states has recahed to 30,724 till Nov 21.
