Lucknow: The state govt will soon begin recruiting personnel for the ‘Hub for Empowerment of Women' (HEW) and the ‘Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana' (PMMVY) programmes, both aimed at promoting women's self-reliance and empowering them socially and economically.
A govt spokesperson said that seven individuals would be recruited per district for these programmes by the end of the year. The schemes would focus on improving women's health, nutrition, and economic empowerment, creating new opportunities for social and economic transformation in the state, he said.
"The state govt is committed to making positive changes in women's lives through the implementation of HEW and PMMVY. As per the guidelines issued by the Govt of India in 2022, we have ensured the operation of service centres in every district, providing women with crucial information on health, education, and employment," said the spokesperson.
Under HEW, women will be educated about state and national schemes, raising awareness about their rights and ensuring they access the benefits of these programs. Personnel at HEW centres will receive training on skill development, gender equality, and the prevention of domestic violence.
The staff for both HEW and PMMVY centres will be outsourced, with preference given to individuals who worked under the previous Mahila Shakti Kendra Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, based on qualifications and eligibility.
Recruitment will take place through the GEM portal, and payments to the personnel will be made at the district level.
Launched in 2017 with support from the ministry of women and child development, PMMVY provides financial assistance to pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers to support their nutrition and health. Starting in March 2024, the scheme will be managed by the department of child development services and nutrition. Under PMMVY, women are provided Rs 5,000 in three installments.
