Coimbatore: Two people were run over by a tipper truck at Ramanathapuram Junction on Trichy Road in the city on Thursday.
Around 11.30am, P Selvaraj, of Maruthur at Ramanathapuram, and his friend A Victor, 60, of Periyar Nagar at Puliyakulam, were riding on a motorcycle from Nanjundapuram Road.
When Selvaraj tried to take a left turn at the Nanjundapuram Road-Ramanathapuram Junction, the bike skidded, and they fell on the road. A speeding tipper truck from behind ran over them, killing the duo on the spot. The bodies were dragged for a few metres.
TIW police inspector Amutha and team rushed to the spot and sent the two bodies to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for postmortem. The bodies were handed over to the family members after the autopsy. Police registered a case against the driver of the truck.
