Guwahati: On the occasion of World Fisheries Day, Union ministry of fisheries, animal husbandry and dairy on Thursday presented Assam with two awards in the fisheries sector. While Darrang bagged the award for the ‘Best Himalaya and Northeastern district’, under the best district category, Srijoni Min Unnayan Samabai Simity Ltd received the ‘Best Inland Fisheries Cooperative/FFPO’ award, under the best fisheries cooperatives/FFPO category, reports Tathagata Bhattacharjee.
Kerala’s Kollam district has been recognised as the ‘Best Marine District’, while Kanker district in Chhattisgarh has been declared the ‘Best Inland District’. Kulgam in J&K has been honoured as the ‘Best District in a Union Territory’.
