Hyderabad: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has filed a formal complaint with the city police over detection of 20 counterfeit Indian currency notes, amounting to 9,400, during routine operations at its Saifabad office between July and Oct 2024.
The complaint was lodged on Nov 19. The RBI stated that fake currency notes in denominations of 200 and 500 were identified during the period – 10 500 notes in July, five 200 and three 500 notes in Sept, and five 500 notes in Oct.
Based on the complaint, CCS, Hyderabad, registered an FIR under sections related to counterfeit currency offences. The case has been handed over to the Economic Offences Wing for further investigation. tnn
