Thiruvananthapuram: The review meeting held to assess the preparations for the Beemapally Uroos festival has decided to complete all works to ensure a smooth conduct of the festival on time.
The meeting was held at the Beemapally Amenity Centre Hall and was attended by various department officials under the leadership of food and civil supplies minister G R Anil. The meeting emphasised the need for coordination among all departments to ensure that the festival is conducted smoothly and that facilities for pilgrims are completed on time. This year's Uroos will take place from Dec 3 to 13.
The city corporation officials informed the meeting that waste removal in Beemapally and surrounding areas is underway and road repair works under the municipality in the festival area will be completed urgently. Officials also stated that the green protocol will be strictly followed, and steps will be taken to install signboards. Public works department officials announced that road repairs on Valiyathura-Beemapally Road, Valiyathura-Airport Road, Manacaud-Valiyathura Road, and BSF Line Road will be completed before the festival.
DCP B V Vijay Bharat Reddy said that additional police forces will be deployed on the festival days. A police control room will be opened, patrolling will be intensified, and CCTV cameras will be installed at various locations.
During the festival, a fully equipped fire and rescue team will camp around Beemapally. Civil defence volunteers will also be available.
A medical team led by the district medical officer will camp there. Ambulance services will also be ensured in emergencies.
KSRTC will operate 15 special services from various parts of the city to the festival area. A temporary station master office will be set up in Beemapally. Special inspection squads led by the excise department have already commenced operations in Beemapally and surrounding areas. Food safety squads will also start functioning soon.
