Ranchi: The Jharkhand high court on Thursday issued notice to JMM worker Sonu Tirkey in response to a case filed by state BJP chief Babulal Marandi, challenging an FIR filed against the latter by the former at Kanke police station in August last year.
Marandi had allegedly made defamatory statements against chief minister (CM) Hemant Soren and his father in an interview aired on YouTube during his Sankalp Yatra. Cases were filed against Marandi in Ramgarh, Simdega, Lohardaga, Sahibgunj, and Madhupur police stations after the interview was aired.
The high court also directed the state govt to file a response in the case.
