Mysuru: Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Permanent Teachers' Association secretary HK Jagdish Babu on Thursday made serious allegations of tampering with documents and discussions at the university's 180th Board of Management meeting held on Oct 8.
He alleged that authorities improperly made decisions regarding promotions of 36 teaching staff without following procedures and holding discussions. He urged the state govt and governor-chancellor's office to intervene immediately to protect the interests of the students.
During a press conference, Babu accused the university administration of falsely recording the attendance of absent Board of Management members in the meeting records. He disclosed that he submitted formal complaints to the governor, Lokayukta, and police authorities, requesting a prompt investigation.
"The entire online meeting footage reveals that many members were absent, but they were shown as present. Adding to this, even though BoM members gave dissent to the agenda, the university authorities hurriedly issued promotion orders retrospectively, which has huge monetary benefits and arrears," he alleged.
He stated, "I have the video recordings of the meeting, which revealed the non-placement and non-discussion of the agenda regarding CAS promotion to teachers and also the absence of members, including MLAs K Harishgowda, D Ravishankar, and MLC BG Patil (Kalaburagi)."
