Kanpur: In a surprise inspection at Etawah's Mahewa town, health department officials sealed a private hospital after discovering a cache of expired medicines, including vials and injectable drugs. This establishment was sealed two years ago too.
During the inspection, deputy chief medical officer (CMO) Dr. Yatendra Rajput, accompanied by Mahewa community health centre (CHC) team, visited Maa Hospital and Maternity Centre in Mahewa. They found a post-operative female patient admitted without any female medical staff or doctor on duty.
The inspection revealed over six medicines in the operating theatre that were two years past their expiry date. When questioned, the operators, Dr. Shivkant Rajput and Rajkumar, failed to provide satisfactory explanations. Subsequently, Dr. Rajput ordered the facility sealed, issued a formal notice to the operators, and arranged for the patient's transfer to CHC. tnn
