Shivamogga: Authorities of Bhadra dam in Shivamogga district will stop releasing water for irrigation purposes from Nov 26. At present, water is being released from the reservoir through left and right bank canals. The dam authorities started releasing water for irrigation from July 29.
The authorities have requested the cooperation of farmers. The decision aims to ensure efficient water management and maintenance of the dam's infrastructure. The farmers and stakeholders are advised to take necessary precautions and plan accordingly to minimise disruptions to their agricultural activities, they stated.
Bhadra dam is located at Lakkavalli on the border of Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru districts. It provides water for irrigation and drinking purposes across central Karnataka.
