Ludhiana: Police have apprehended the fourth suspect in the attempted murder of shoe trader Gurvinder Singh Prinkle, bringing new developments to a case that has drawn significant attention. The latest arrest follows the shooting incident on November 8, where Prinkle was ambushed in his store by a group of assailants, including known gangster Rishav Benipal, alias Nanu.
The fourth accused, Sahil Sapra, was arrested near the Gau Ghat cremation ground based on a tip-off. Cops recovered a country-made .32-calibre pistol and a scooter that he had snatched during the incident as he attempted to flee. Sapra is believed to have conducted reconnaissance on Prinkle’s store.
On the evening of the attack, Prinkle was at his shop in Khud Mohalla with business partner Navtej Kaur when two men entered posing as customers and opened fire. Prinkle retaliated with his licensed gun but sustained seven bullet wounds, while Nanu and his accomplice Sushil Kumar were also injured.
Initially, Prinkle named several rivals in his complaint, including relatives and local traders, leading to an FIR against them. However, after Nanu's arrest, he disclosed the identities of his accomplices, prompting arrests of Sushil Kumar, Akash, and others. ADCP Amandeep Singh Brar confirmed that the attack’s motive stemmed from an abusive phone call.
