Gorakhpur: The Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation has issued an advertisement to fill positions such as naib tehsildar, revenue inspectors and lekhpals through outsourcing. The recruitment drive is specifically aimed at retired govt officials with remuneration for roles detailed in the advertisement.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav criticised the Yogi-led BJP govt and took to social media platform X, to say, "It would be better if BJP outsourced the entire govt. This way, they could centralise their commissions in one go, saving them the hassle of undermining jobs and reservations piecemeal. BJP has no real intent to create jobs; outsourcing is an economic conspiracy against the public. We demand the immediate withdrawal of this proposal to protect constitutional rights to jobs and reservations."
When asked about the advertisement, municipal commissioner Gaurav Sogarwal said the advertisement pertained only to retired personnel and reflected an established practice.
"Recruiting retired officials on contractual basis is nothing new. Various municipal corporations and organisations like BHEL and GAIL etc, have been doing this for years. For example, one retired naib tehsildar has been working with us since 2012-13. This is a standard approach and not unprecedented," he stated.
