Varanasi: The two-day regional performance review meeting 2024, organised by Vigilance Directorate, Railway Board, commenced at Banaras Locomotive Works on Thursday.
The meeting was presided over by principal executive director (Vigilance), Railway Board, D K Singh. Senior officials from North Eastern Railway and East Central Railway, along with three major production units, CORE, RDSO, and BLW, participated in the meeting. In his keynote address, BLW general manager, N P Singh, highlighted the transformative phase Indian Railways was undergoing.
"Indian Railways is witnessing a revolutionary phase with significant advancement in safety, capacity expansion, station redevelopment and passenger amenities. In this context, the role of vigilance must evolve to align with modern challenges," he said. Singh encouraged officials to take courageous and fair decisions while maintaining integrity. He urged vigilance department to expedite resolution of pending cases and foster a fear-free environment to enable employees to work confidently. He also commended success of the recently organised Vigilance Awareness Week. As part of the campaign, BLW conducted awareness programmes for employees, school children and public, emphasising importance of honesty and integrity.
Singh described children as the "future of the nation" and stressed that instilling the values of integrity at an early age would significantly contribute to building a strong and prosperous India.
He also released BLW's vigilance bulletin, ‘Prabodh', which aims to inspire railway employees towards vigilance awareness and impartiality, marking a significant step in fostering transparency and integrity.
