Madikeri: The minor irrigation department is rejuvenating the age-old Nandipura Lake located near Kodlipet on the Kodagu-Hassan district border.
The Nandipura Lake was a water source for the border village of Kodlipet, but its condition has deteriorated. Following this, the minor irrigation department released Rs 3.90 crore for its revival based on the demand by the villagers.
As the lake is being rejuvenated, the authorities have also developed a garden at the site to embellish the lake. According to HC advocate HS Chandramouli, who hails from Kodlipet, a children's play area is also being built.
Kumaraswamy, the AEE of the minor irrigation department, said that the department will maintain the lake for a year. The maintenance of the lake will be handed over to the Kodlipet gram panchayat later. The project is nearing completion. The rejuvenated lake will be inaugurated by Kodagu district minister NS Boseraju shortly.
