Alwar: A massive fire broke out at a plastic pipe manufacturing facility, Ori Plast, in RIICO industrial zone of Behror, Kotputli on Tuesday. Six fire tenders were deployed to douse the fire. The blaze intensified with flames visible for several kilometres. Due to magnitude of fire, additional fire tenders were brought from Neemrana and Kotputli.
A company employee said that the fire began at 4.30pm. Though the precise cause of fire yet to be ascertained, the blaze destroyed nearly half the facility. Unsuccessful attempts by the company to contact emergency services for thirty minutes, suggesting the delayed response contributed to the fire's spread, he said. The incident sparked panic as workers evacuated hastily. The extensive smoke plumes alarmed nearby residents. Fire engines were dispatched from multiple localities as the blaze engulfed the premises. Local observers noted the inadequate safety protocols across major industrial zones, including Behror, Neemrana, Sotanala, and Ghiloth. Despite numerous industrial fires over the years, regulatory enforcement remains insufficient.
Behror station officer Mahesh Tiwari confirmed ongoing efforts to suppress the fire at the plastic pipe manufacturing unit.
