Prayagraj: The 21st annual convocation of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) Allahabad, Prayagraj will be held on Nov 21. Students of various courses will be awarded degrees.
Talking to the media at the institute on Wednesday, Director MNNIT, Prof RS Verma, informed that chairman and managing director, Persistent Systems, Pune, Anand Deshpande, has consented to be the chief guest of the event and will deliver the convocation address. Likewise, Chairperson, Board of Governors (BOG), Vivek Lall, will preside over the convocation ceremony, although in a virtual mode.
In this event, a total of 1,583 degrees will be awarded, out of which 1,059 will be degrees for BTech, 345 MTech, 112 MCA, 27 MSc, 32 MBA, 27 MSc and 35 PhD scholars will receive their degrees. As for the number of male and female students who will be given their degrees for the respective programmes, for BTech, there will be 841 men and 218 women students. For postgraduate (MBA/MCA/MSc /MTech), there will be 391 men and 125 women students, and for the PhD programme, there will be 19 men and 16 women scholars. During the convocation, 46 foreign students admitted through Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) (34 men and 12 women) and 17 admitted through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations- ICCR (14 men and 3 women) will also receive their degrees, informed Prof Verma.
Twenty-eight gold medals will be given to the postgraduate students, and 10 gold medals will be given to the undergraduate students. Apart from these gold medals, 13 sponsored gold medals constituted by the faculty, alumni, and industry will be conferred to the students for their outstanding performance. Rishabh Gupta of Civil Engineering will be awarded the overall institute gold medal, as the best student amongst all the BTech. final year students, passing out batch 2024.
