New Delhi: AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal continued his series of ‘padadhikari sammelans' on Tuesday to secure support for the party ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls, due by the next Feb.
Addressing party workers across northwest and west Delhi, Kejriwal urged them to prepare for a decisive "dharm yuddh" to protect Delhi's progress. "People of Delhi want ‘Kejriwal-style governance, they will vote for Kejriwal. BJP is asking for votes to implement Kejriwal's work, proving they have no new agenda of their own," he said. "Their only agenda is to remove Kejriwal."
He added, "In Delhi, we have half-govt and the other half is BJP's. In the past 10 years, we've delivered on electricity, water, schools, hospitals, CCTV cameras, roads and sewage systems. What has BJP's half of govt done?"
"We provide six essential ‘revris' for free: electricity, water, education, healthcare, bus travel for women, and pilgrimage for the elderly; BJP-ruled states offer none of them," he claimed.
"The first revri is 24-hour electricity in Delhi. Before 2014, Delhi faced power cuts, lasting 8-10 hours daily. BJP has ruled Gujarat for over 30 years but couldn't ensure 24-hour electricity there," he alleged, adding that if BJP comes to power in Delhi, the 24-hour supply will stop.
Compared to free electricity in Delhi, in BJP-ruled states like Uttar Pradesh, people not only face long power cuts but also receive hefty electricity bills, claimed Kejriwal. "Ask your relatives in UP or Haryana, they'll tell you about their expensive bills. In Delhi, the bill is zero," he said.
