Ranchi: JMM on Tuesday shot off a letter to chief election commissioner Rajeev Kumar alleging that the BJP was broadcasting misleading advertisements against it through on a social media channel to influence the electorate during the silence period.
BJP's state president Babulal Marandi, on the other hand, claimed on X that a few state govt officials were working as "Hemant Soren's karyakartas" and trying to influence the voters' turnout of Wednesday by intimidating the electorate, BJP workers and causing deliberate obstructions.
JMM demanded action against the BJP under various sections of the I-T Act and MCC violations. Blaming the Election Commission (EC) of turning a blind eye to the BJP's wrongdoings, JMM general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said: "Outsiders and the BJP's leaders are openly distributing cash in Dumka and in Deoghar in violation of the MCC, but no action is being taken."
Marandi, who is contesting from Dhanwar assembly segment in Giridih district, said corrupt govt officials, working as Hemant Soren's karyakartas, were making desperate measures to reduce the voting percentage for BJP's candidates in Dhanwar and other key constituencies. "They are using every possible trick, such as stopping voters who support the BJP from entering their constituencies, intimidating BJP workers, spreading misinformation and influencing the voters at their respective polling booths," he claimed in a post on X.
JMM, however, dismissed Marandi's allegations and claimed that the district machinery and the bureaucracy was currently working under the EC's directives due to the MCC.
