A cold front will be shifting through the region, creating winter-like temperatures beginning later this week, according to the National Weather Service. Cities around East Tennessee will experience wind chills in the 20's and upper teens on Friday, Nov. 22.

Forecasts show the temperatures will dip on Wednesday night, when the low will be 37 degrees, according to the National Weather Service predictions. On Thursday, there will be a high of 46 degrees with gusty winds.
Friday should be the coldest day of the week for Tennessee. The high will be around 45 degrees.
The cold front that will impact East Tennessee late this week is sweeping across the United States, moving from the West Coast toward the East.
This impending weather is slightly colder than Tennessee's average November temperatures. The average high this month in Knoxville is around 60 degrees and the average low is 38.1 degrees, according to National Weather Service data.

There is a chance of snow on Thursday night, with a 50% chance of rain and snow showers. On Nov. 22, there is a slight chance of more rain and snow showers before 8 a.m

How cold could it be in East Tennessee this winter?
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicted a warmer-than-average winter for Tennessee in its seasonal weather outlook, due to La Niña conditions.
In a typical year, the Knoxville area sees temperatures in the 30s and 40s during the winter months, according to the National Weather Service.
"Normal" temperatures and averages are created based on a 30-year average of temperatures from 1991 to 2020.
