Gurgaon: Police arrested a man for allegedly stabbing a 24-year-old woman in Kherala village near Sohna on Monday. This took place days before the victim's marriage, said a police officer, adding that she is undergoing treatment.
According to cops, the accused, Jitesh (27), who works as a bike taxi driver, stabbed the woman multiple times on Sunday noon to settle scores against the victim's family for assaulting him two years ago.
"Two years ago, the woman's brothers had assaulted Jitesh; she also had beaten him with a stick. Since then, Jitesh has been waiting for a chance to take revenge," said police spokesperson.
"The victim was stabbed in the neck, wrists, and arms, after which she collapsed, screaming for help. The family members were busy with arrangements for her wedding, Jitesh fled from the scene," said police. A case was registered on a complaint by the victim's brother, cops said.
"On the complaint of the victim's brother, a case was registered against Jitesh under BNS sections 109 (1) (attempt to murder) and 3 (5) (common intention). The accused is currently in police remand and will be interrogated. After recovering the weapon, we will verify if anyone else was involved," the police said.
