Udaipur: Independent MLA from Sheo, Ravindra Singh Bhati, was on Monday granted bail in a case in which he was accused of violating prohibitory orders under CrPC Section 144 during the Covid-19 lockdown on Aug 16, 2021, when he led a sit-in protest at Udaipur collectorate.
The protest was against collection of college fees during the lockdown period. the absence of Bhati and co-accused during court proceedings led to issuance of a arrest warrant on Oct 21 this year. The high court upheld the arrest warrant, directing Bhati to appear before the Udaipur court by Dec 15. On Monday, he appeared at court and obtained bail after submitting a bond of Rs 20,000. "A fabricated case has been registered against me for extracting two youths from the police vehicle," Bhati said. tnn
