Ahmedabad: Chirag Rajput, the CEO and one of the directors at Khyati Multispeciality Hospital in Bodakdev, who is still out of the police's reach, reportedly runs a diagnostics lab in the Keshavbaug area in the name of a relative, sources close to the development said. Also, the probe so far shows that the hospital held six to seven camps in the past few months. Their number may increase as investigation progresses.
"Rajput also has interests in other business ventures, and one of them is a diagnostics firm catering to western city areas, including Satellite and Vastrapur. It is believed that the lab was used to prepare the health reports before medical procedures at the hospital. A probe into how many of the ‘all-clear' health tests before the procedure were conducted at the lab may shed light on the nexus," the sources said. "The possibility of misuse of such reports for getting money under private health insurance cannot be ruled out."
Rajput has been named as the primary player in organising the nexus of health check-up camps in rural areas, medical procedures at the hospital, and getting money from the govt. Investigators pointed out that there are six to seven layers from a hospital's claim application for PM-JAY benefits to the money being deposited into its account.
"While several hospitals wait for clearing of dues for more than three to four months, it is interesting to note that Khyati Hospital converted the system into a well-oiled machinery where an insider role cannot be ruled out completely. The probe so far points at six to seven medical camps in the past few months. The exact number of patients attended at the hospital (after the camps) is still under probe," said an investigator. The investigation so far has indicated camps in Vinayakpura, Kanjari, Vadroda and Borisana in Mehsana district, Shertha and Rupal in Gandhinagar district, and Bavla in Ahmedabad district since 2022 by the hospital.
