A workshop was organised at Kashi Ram Silk Exchange under the chairmanship of Sunil Verma, special secretary/director of silk, on Monday. The focus was on silk branding, marketing and designing, as well as reviving old committees and adding new ones to the federation. The state-level committee on Nov 11 approved the establishment of an Integrated Silk Complex/Common Facility Centre at Silk Exchange, Pandepur, Varanasi, under the ODOP scheme. Joint commissioner of handloom and textiles, K P Verma, provided information on all departmental plans, along with Smriti Yadav, acting director of NIFT. Prof Gaurav gave a presentation on silk branding and marketing.
Nitin and Amrit Layak, scientists from the Central Silk Board, explained the features of silk mark certification and tags. Amin Hirenbhai Naveenbhai, director of IIHT, gave information about the institute's programmes.
