Bengaluru: The BBMP plans to extend smart classroom education to its nine schools and a college in the city at an estimated cost of Rs 1.8 crore.
According to its education wing officials, they will introduce smart education in higher primary schools in Neelasandra, Panchasheelanagar and Kodandaramapura. High schools in Dispensary Road, Kempegowdanagar, Bharatinagar, Byrasandra, Basavanagudi and Dinnur and a PU college in Dispensary Road.
BBMP officials said that they initially started smart classrooms in nine of its high schools and PU colleges in 2022. It installed around 87 smart panels to implement the digital classes and 45 of them needed to be repaired. The BBMP allocated Rs 20 lakh to repair them.
About Rs 2 crore was allocated in the BBMP budget 2024-25 to implement smart education. It will introduce smart education in 10 schools and colleges at an estimated cost of Rs 1.8 crore and the remaining Rs 20 lakh will be used for the repair work of previously established smart classes.
BBMP operates 93 nursery schools, 16 primary schools, 33 high schools, 19 pre-university colleges, 4 degree colleges and 2 postgraduate colleges.
BBMP recently invited proposals from its schools and colleges. Proposals were submitted by three primary schools, six high schools and one PU college. It was decided to install 60 smart boards at a cost of Rs 3 lakh each in 10 schools and colleges.
