Canacona: The Poinguinim gram sabha on Sunday resolved to impose a new garbage collection tax of Rs 100 per year on every household, while commercial establishments will be charged a minimum of Rs 500.
It also unanimously resolved to seek inclusion of the Poinguinim panchayat in the eco-sensitive zone.
The sabha also discussed the illegal construction in Talpona and resolved to take action against those who have violated building norms.
The panchayat will also probe reports of illegal shacks in the area.
On the issue of illegal water and electricity connections in Sadolxem, it was decided to disconnect these immediately.
The sabha also resolved to take strict action against those polluting the Galgibaga river with sewage. The panchayat will erect signboards and take action against violators to curb haphazard parking at beach entry points.
Regarding the ongoing work at the Potkem ground, the sabha decided to assess the completed work and appoint a new contractor to finish the project.
