Jaipur: Condolences were offered to the families of people who died in road accidents, and a resolution was made to make roads safer at an event organised by Muskaan Foundation for Road Safety, an NGO, at Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) to commemorate the UN World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims on Sunday.
The gathering, attended by Commissioner of Police Biju George Joseph as chief guest, made a powerful advocacy for greater road safety awareness and underscored the importance of strict adherence to traffic regulations to avert accidents. Civil Lines MLA Gopal Sharma spoke about the importance of helmet usage by bikers, traffic signal compliance by all motorists, and prevention of overloading of vehicles. The event was attended, among others, by Jaipur Citizen Forum chairman Rajiv Arora, Muskaan Foundation chairman Manoj Bhatt, and eminent neurosurgeon VD Sinha.
The UN World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is held every year on the third Sunday of Nov.
The commemoration at JKK witnessed participation of more than 600 students from 40 schools, who presented choir and theatre performances focusing on road safety awareness. A notable part of the event was the staging of the play ‘Helmet', directed by Raju Kumar, which highlighted helmet safety protocols.
The students also demonstrated their ingenuity through a road safety-themed reel challenge, and the achievers received recognition during the programme.
A panel discussion, moderated by Muskaan Foundation trustee Dr Mridul Bhasin, discussed diverse road safety aspects. Specialists such as Dr Shubhangi Tambwekar of from Arundhati Foundation and Deputy Commissioner of Police Tejaswani Gautam contributed valuable perspectives in this discussion.
An interactive quiz, conducted by Narendra Gupta, enhanced participant engagement.
The event culminated with captivating performances by students from Rajasthan Hip-Hop Centre, Sanskar School and Poornima College of Engineering. Muskaan Foundation Jaipur has been taking extensive initiatives to curb road accidents and encourage responsible driving practices.
