Chikkamagaluru: Several separated couples were reunited in Lok Adalat, said C Veerabhadraiah, principal senior civil judge.
The judge said a total of nine couples were reunited during the previous Lok Adalat. Now, the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority has decided to host Lok Adalat on Dec 14, and the people should utilise the opportunity to clear the litigations.
The adalat will be held at all taluk courts within the district. The eligible cases can be solved through compromise.
A total of 5,545 cases, including pre-litigation cases like cheque bounce, money recovery, employment, motor accident claims, industrial worker wage claims, electricity charges, mining and minerals, land acquisition cases, service cases related to salaries and allowances, pension cases, revenue cases, and civil cases (rent, rights of enjoyment, injunction suits), were identified for compromise settlement, and 2,260 cases will be taken up, he stated.
Litigants can participate in the Lok Adalat directly or through lawyers. A final decision is made if both parties agree, and this decision holds the value of a court decree. Parties must act according to the decision, and with mutual understanding, the case concludes amicably, the judge said.
The decision of the Lok Adalat is final, and there is no provision for an appeal. Members of the District Legal Services Authority, senior civil judge V Hanumanthappa, and president of the Bar Association DB Sujendra were present.
