Converse debuts its first Indian store in Mumbai

Converse, in partnership with Bhaane Group, has unveiled its inaugural store in India, located at Linking Road, Mumbai. This store marks a new chapter for Indian fans, providing them with their first in-person opportunity to experience the brand’s lineup of sneakers and bold, gear.

Situated in the heart of Mumbai’s fashion district, which is known for its urban youth culture, the Linking Road store embodies the individuality and creative spirit that Converse champions. Fans have a chance to discover India’s most comprehensive range of Converse products, from timeless classics like the Chuck Taylor All Star, One Star, and more.

A standout feature of the store launch event was a life-size sneaker installation by the acclaimed Kartik Kumra of Kartik Research, created in collaboration with Ajrakh block printing artist Sarfaraz Khatri and seasoned set designer Disha Dey of Tales by Disha, which brings story-driven designs to life for celebrations and film sets. 

Inspired by India’s tapestry of colors and patterns, the installation celebrated Converse’s legacy in imaginative form while embracing an authentic Indianness that resonates with the brand’s global celebration of diversity.

The vibrant design and intricate details captured the edgy spirit of Converse and left a lasting impression on attendees, treating them to an experience and an unforgettable photo opportunity.

Adding to the excitement of the store’s inauguration, Bollywood actors Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor joined media personalities, influencers, and stylists to celebrate this milestone. Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja ,co-founders of the Bhaane Group were also present. 

This provided a firsthand look into the brand’s new store while creating a space for a thriving sneaker community that Converse seeks to foster in India. The store launch saw a communal gathering of Converse fans, underlining how the brand is pushing the envelope by nurturing a mainstream community around a niche subculture.

This newly-opened store embraces Converse’s ethos of self-expression through a distinct, industrial-inspired aesthetic. Designed with a raw concrete tile finish and an open-ceiling layout, the space exudes an edgy, laid-back vibe.

The store will not only be a shopping destination but also a hub for creative engagement, reflecting Converse’s association with art, music, and fashion.
