Ranchi: In its effort to ensure an all-inclusive election, the Election Commission (EC) allowed the administration to set up a special booth for the leprosy-affected voters of Jamtara town for the November 20 assembly election.
Chief electoral officer K Ravi Kumar said, "The 57 leprosy-affected voters had told the EC about the difficulties they face in general booths. A request was sent to the EC, which approved the special booth."
A total of 14,219 booths would be set up across 38 constituencies. Out of these, 239 would be manned by women, 22 by differently abled, and 26 by youths to ensure an all-inclusive election.
The CEO said the silence period for the second phase has set in and a person is not allowed to remain in the constituency in which he/she is not a voter. The administration would carry out checking of hotels, marriage halls and other places. Anyone found present illegally in the constituencies would face action, he added.
