Kanpur: With the roadshows of Bhojpuri film actor Ravi Kishan and SP MP Dimple Yadav concluding, canvassing for Sisamau bypoll ceased on Monday as voting will begin on November 20. The model code of conduct has been implemented across the constituency.
As many as 271,042 voters will cast their votes on November 20. The constituency has 143,768 male voters and 127,273 female voters. According to the Election Commission, there are 121 service voters, 1,169 physically challenged voters, and roughly 1,587 voters above 85 years of age. They will exercise their franchise across 275 voting booths and 48 voting centres.
The district administration has placed 34 critical voting centres and 227 critical booths under webcasting surveillance. The constituency features one Pink voting booth at Government Girls Inter College Chunniganj staffed by women, one physically challenged booth at PSGN Memorial Private School Arya Nagar managed by physically challenged persons, and one booth at Nagar Nigam Balika Inter College Chunniganj staffed by youths.
District Election Officer Rakesh Kumar Singh said that a voters' help booth has been established, equipped with voter lists and alphabetical locators. Voters without voter slips can enquire about their serial numbers.
Contesting candidates have been allowed three vehicles each for themselves, their election agents and workers.
Each vehicle may carry five persons, including the driver. Vehicles cannot be used in the candidate's absence.
Neither candidates, agents nor others are permitted to transport voters to election centres.
Voters may use personal vehicles to transport family members but must park them 200 metres away from voting centres. Candidates may set up election booths (basta) beyond the 200-metre radius from polling stations, limited to one table and two chairs. Tents are prohibited. A 3x1.5 feet banner may be displayed. Booth operators must have voter ID cards and political activities are forbidden at these booths. Voters are prohibited from carrying mobile phones inside polling stations.
Alternative identification documents to e accepted include Aadhar card, MNREGA job card, photo passbooks from post offices and banks, health insurance smart card, driving licence, PAN card, RGI-issued NPR smart card, Indian passport, photo pension documents, state/central government photo IDs, and identification issued to MPs, MLAs.
