Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday instructed the officials concerned to ensure adequate supply of fertilisers for farmers across Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing a high-level meeting convened to address the availability of fertiliser in the state, the CM directed the officials to deliver fertilisers procured from the private sector to farmers through cooperative societies and other govt channels.
He emphasized the importance of providing fertiliser to farmers at reasonable prices to prevent any disruption in crop production process.
"Officials should establish effective coordination with the central govt to ensure timely supply of fertiliser as per the state's requirements," the CM said.
He instructed officials to ensure that farmers are provided essential basic amenities at fertiliser distribution sites. He emphasized the need for proper arrangements, including orderly queues, access to drinking water, shaded areas, and seating facilities, to make the distribution process smooth and farmer-friendly. He also stressed that discipline should be maintained at the centres to prevent any chaos and urged the adoption of a transparent process to safeguard the interests of the farmers. Yogi also called for the establishment of a dedicated monitoring mechanism to oversee the fertiliser distribution process. He directed the formation of district-level teams to track the distribution, ensure transparency, and submit regular reports.
"This system aims to prevent black marketing and hoarding of fertiliser. Strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty of such practices," Yogi said.
The meeting was attended by the chief secretary, principal secretary, agriculture, principal secretary, cooperative department, and others.
