Mangaluru: Unidentified burglars reportedly broke into a house at Manadka in Ichlampadi village of Kadaba taluk by force opening the backdoor and looted valuables from the house. They caused further damage by setting fire to a cupboard and destroying important documents.
In a complaint, Satish, 45, said he locked his house and went to attend his niece's wedding on the night of Nov 15. However, on Nov 17 evening, Satish received a call from his relative, who informed him about a fire in his house. Following this, Satish rushed back home and upon inspection, found the bedroom on the north side of the house engulfed in flames. The backdoor was open, and he discovered that a steel cupboard in the bedroom was completely destroyed by the fire. Several items of jewellery were missing from the house. In addition to the theft of valuables, a second cupboard in the bedroom on the south side was ransacked. Fire also destroyed important documents, including property records, bank statements, Aadhaar cards, and the disability card of the complainant's brother Balakrishna, along with documents related to their poultry farm. A case has been registered at Uppinangady station in this connection.
