Daltonganj: Hussainabad police in Palamu have intensified its investigation into a criminal case filed against nine identified voters and 50-60 unknown persons for allegedly disrupting polling and threatening security personnel during the November 13 election.
The case, registered under the Bhartiya Nayaya Sanhita and the Representation of the People Act, was filed based on a complaint by IRB jawan Indra Kumar, who was deployed at booths 182 and 183 in the Hussainabad assembly constituency.
The incident occurred at Government Upgraded Middle School in Daruwa village. The accused allegedly attempted to snatch the weapon and mobile phone from the IRB jawan who tried to prevent their disruptive activities.
"The nine identified individuals had clear intentions of influencing the voting process through illegal means," said Hussainabad police station officer in-charge Sanjay Yadav, citing the FIR contents. He added other voters had photographed the accused creating disturbances at the booths.
The nine accused are Himanshu Kumar, son of Rajinder Singh (as mentioned in the FIR), Sudama Singh, Sushil Singh, Bhagwan Singh, Ajay Singh, Gouri Shankar Singh, Guddal Singh, and Niranjan Singh. No arrests have been made so far.
The booths were set up separately within the school premises, where the accused allegedly created chaos and intimidated security personnel on duty. Indra Kumar was stationed there along with four other personnel.
Police are trying to identify and arrest the unknown individuals involved in the incident.
