Thiruvananthapuram: A review meeting chaired by food and civil supplies minister G R Anil to evaluate the traffic arrangements implemented as part of the construction of the Karakulam flyover urged the people to support the traffic arrangements put in place.
The meeting, held at the Karakulam grama panchayat, was attended by public representatives, department officials concerned, and local residents.
The traffic arrangements related to the construction of the flyover, part of the Vazhuthacaud-Pazhakutty four-lane road development, were implemented through discussions, the minister said. The coordination of officials helped alleviate minor difficulties in traffic arrangements, and the cooperation of local residents and the public is essential for completing the construction on time, he said.
The minister assured that steps would be taken to promptly address the difficulties faced by the local residents. He also added that misinformation regarding traffic arrangements should not be spread.
The minister instructed officials concerned to install direction boards regarding routes and to remove hazardous trees on public roads. It was decided in the meeting to appoint traffic wardens at junctions to avoid traffic congestion and to impose restrictions on tipper lorries during peak hours.
The chain service previously conducted by KSRTC from Peroorkada through Vazhuthacaud-Karakulam-Kachani route will now operate only up to Kachani starting from Monday, and KSRTC services will be provided during school hours for students of Karakulam Higher Secondary School, the minister said.
Karakulam panchayat president U Lekharani informed the meeting that facilities for two-wheelers from Ettamkallu to Bridge Junction would be arranged soon.
