Gurgaon: A 60-year-old scrap vendor died after being hit by a scooter near Subhash Chowk on Sohna Road onWednesday. Yogender, who was from Mansurgunj village in UP's Ambedkarnagar, had been living in Sector 33 for 15 years.
His son Ravi Kumar said, "Police informed me that my father was cycling from Sector 33 towards Subhash Chowk to collect scrap when the scooter rammed into him from behind near Central Park resort around 12.15am."
Passersby alerted the police at 12.25am. ASI Rakesh said, "The victim was found unconscious with a head injury. His damaged cycle and the accused's scooter were lying nearby." Yogender was rushed to the civil hospital, where he was declared dead. "We are working to arrest the absconding accused," a cop said.
On Thursday, based on Ravi Kumar's complaint, a case was registered at Sadar police station under sections 106 (death due to negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the BNS.
