Noida: An electric transformer repair plant will soon be established on a 4,000 sqm plot in Sector 32, near the Yamuna Expressway. The facility, with a budget of Rs 4 crore, is expected to be completed within a year, said officials on Friday.
Initially, it will have the capacity to repair over 20 transformers daily, ranging from 10 KVA to 1 MVA. This capacity will eventually be expanded to handle transformers of all capacities.
This will be the first such unit in the Yamuna region, addressing a long-standing challenge. Currently, damaged transformers are sent to Noida or Bulandshahr for repairs, causing delays and additional costs.
According to officials, the demand for power in the Yamuna area is set to surge due to major upcoming projects, including the Noida International Airport, Film City, Fintech City, Medical Device Park, Data Centre, etc.
"Big companies are investing in Yamuna City, so we are preparing for uninterrupted power supply by establishing a transformer repair factory," an official explained.
